The thing about Liberals and Conservatives

I recently read a conservative blog post from a website that a coworker put me on to called HOT AIR. The post is basically a rebuttal of the postulation made by another blogger (Julian Sanchez) that “the contemporary conservative movement has been moving toward epistemic closure”.

Basically, the assertion made by Sanchez is that Republicans are becoming more and more closed-minded.

Check out this excerpt from his post:

“One of the more striking features of the contemporary conservative movement is the extent to which it has been moving toward epistemic closure. Reality is defined by a multimedia array of interconnected and cross promoting conservative blogs, radio programs, magazines, and of course, Fox News. Whatever conflicts with that reality can be dismissed out of hand because it comes from the liberal media, and is therefore ipso facto not to be trusted. (How do you know they’re liberal? Well, they disagree with the conservative media!) This epistemic closure can be a source of solidarity and energy, but it also renders the conservative media ecosystem fragile.”

The other blogger rebuts this notion (after calling Sanchez a Libertarian) by using Rush Limbaugh as an example of how Conservatives really go out of their way to draw from the Liberal media.

Duh, where else would they get the fodder for their diatribe, right?

I thought the whole thing was hilarious. READ IT HERE. The conservative blogger even prints the rebuttal to his rebuttal (Sanchez sends an email)!

This tit for tat verbal sparring, while undeniably amusing, does nothing to advance ANY real cause. It is really strictly amusement - it’s all bullshit. Because as these guys are arguing about who’s right and who’s wrong, the real bad guys – our elected leaders – continue to aid & abet The Man [a group of unseen men, bankers by trade, that control E V E R Y T H I N G... from how much interest you pay on your loans to when we go to war.] But I digress.

The thing about Liberals and Conservatives is that they like labels and they like pointing fingers. And The Man knows it and likes it that way! So, The Man’s Army, Big Media, fuels the infighting. That’s why we have the us versus them bullshit when it’s really ALL of US versus the ultra-rich and supremely powerful ruler of us all, the Big Banks and “The Fed”.

It’s been said that if you’re not a Democrat when you’re young, you have no heart and if you’re not a Republican when you’re old, you have no brain. I say that if you subscribe to the dogma and rhetoric of one particular political party, you have neither common sense nor real spirit. We see the same thing with the church. How many derivatives of Roman Catholicism can there possibly be?

BOTH political agendas are about advancing The Man’s bottom line – making MORE MONEY by ANY MEANS NECESSARY (Note that both McCain & Obama backed the corrupt bailout because they both wanted to get themselves elected).

But herein lies the rub. In a society where that’s the real end goal – making money – who am I to begrudge another man’s gain?

Let’s get this straight right here and NOW. I am a TRUE capitalist but I’m also a human being and what’s happening in this country (really everywhere) is that GREED has gotten out of control to the extent that the OUR ELECTED LEADERS, Democrat or Republican, unilaterally cater to the interests of the rich in not so subtle fashion. When things in this country have gotten out of hand in such a big way… when the government is not by the people and for the people at all, it’s time to rise up as one and take action.

Let’s even the playing field just a little and start playing fair ball. To do that, we have to wake up to the fact that we’re ALL victims of mass corruption, that it’s not Democrats Vs Republicans but a fight against a fraudulent government. And that fight requires a united voice.
